Daffodil International University  celebrated its 19^th founding anniversary through two-days (24-25 January) virtual events. The celebration was inaugurated on January 24, 2021 through a discussion session titled ‘Our University in Our Feelings’. Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Professor Dr. M Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. SM Mahbub –Ul-Haque Majumder, Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mostafa Kamal. Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. M Shamsul Alam, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof. A M M Hamidur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Prof. Dr. Masum Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship, Syed Mizanur Rahman, Director of Student Affairs discussed in the program. Another program titled ‘Our University’ was held at 4:30 pm participated by all the clubs of the university.

While addressing at today’s inaugural program, Dr. Md. Sabur Khan said that We cannot think about celebrating the founding anniversary without student’s participation. But, due to the pandemic situation, we couldn’t get together in our green campus. However, if the university opens, we will try to celebrate it in possible manner”

He also said that Daffodil International University has achieved a lot in 19 years. The green campus, the huge infrastructure, the halls for the students, the cafeteria, the library, the innovation lab, the placement in the international rankings etc. have all been made possible due to the team work of the teachers, students and dedicated staff. At this time he expressed his gratitude to all.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. M Lutfar Rahman said Daffodil International University started its journey in a rented building 18 years ago. The university now has its own campus covering more than 150 acres. All this has been possible due to the combined efforts of all. For this, he wished and thanked all those who are associated with Daffodil University.

He added that DIU  has spread all over the world. Daffodil has agreements with 300 world-renowned universities. DIU has the highest number of foreign students among all the universities in Bangladesh. 

Two more discussion sessions titled ‘World Wide Daffodilian’ hosted by International Affairs with the participation of international students and a program titled ‘Daffodil Alumni-Today and Beyond” with the participation of alumni of the university were held today.

It may be mentioned here that Daffodil International University (DIU) started its journey on 24 January 2002 with only 67 students. Now the number of this university is more than 20 thousands. DIU has achieved prestigious positions in the world-renowned Times Higher Education, QS Asia University Rankings and UI Green Matrix Rankings within just 19 years. The university has also gained international and regional recognition for its quality of education, research work, employment of graduates, world-class education and environment. DIU has been able to attract the largest number of foreign students. It received a World Quality Commitment Award, Global Amity Award, Best Business School Award in Asia etc.
