DIIT distributed free laptops among students
Daffodil Institute of IT (DIIT) has distributed free laptops to hundred plus students under ‘Laptop for all’ project in the commitment to develop a techno savvy and knowledge generation to lead the future. The laptop distribution ceremony was held at the auditorium of Daffodil International University on September 23, 2019. Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank and Professor of Development Studies Department of Dhaka University, Dr. Atiur Rahman as the chief guest handed over the laptop to the 116 students those who are studying at DIIT.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Daffodil International University, Md. Sabur Khan presided over the program. Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the National University, Professor Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu and Dean of the Faculty of Business Education at Dhaka University and Governing Body Chairman of DIIT, Professor Shibli Rubayt Ul Islam, was present in the Program as the Special guest. Mohammad Nuruzzaman, Chief Executive Officer of Daffodil Family, was present as the Guest of Honor at the event.
The Chief Guest Atiur Rahman said that per capita income in Bangladesh will be $ 5700 by 2030 which will be more than $ 400 from neighboring country India. And that will be possible through the construction of digital Bangladesh adopted by the present government. He also said that technology is an integral part of receiving and delivering education today. Daffodil Institute of IT Authority’s initiative to distribute free laptops among students is a bold and time demanding step. He urged students to ensure proper use of laptops.
He told that one of the announcements of the present government’s election manifesto was the establishment of digital Bangladesh and the government has been successful in fulfilling that goal. He further said that by taking such a step, future generations should be made technologically knowledgeable and adapt to various problems that exist in real and work-oriented life. Life and education can never be different. DIIT has been able to connect education with life and it is undoubtedly commendable. In the context of the present time, DIIT is trying to provide the education in need. Distribution of these free laptops is part of that effort.
Special guest, Dr. Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu said that the phenomenon of distributing free laptops among the students is quite rare. The digital revolution is now underway in Bangladesh. Not far away, when sitting in the office or in a car on the street, your home refrigerator, lights, fan, etc. can be turned on and off. The Chairman of Daffodil Family, Mr. Md. Sabur Khan focused on the implementation of digital Bangladesh as today’s government is giving the most priority to establish digitalization in every sector of the country and added to build a better self-reliant Bangladesh, the present generation should find themselves skilled in technology education.
